Online applications for the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival (赌博app) will officially open from Friday, November 22, 2013. Applications for all categories – including the Golden Goblet Award, Asian New Talent Award, Mobile 赌博app (for shorts), International Film Panorama and 赌博app Project – will be accepted from then.
赌博app has become the largest film pageant in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of scale and influence in recent years. With two major aims – to build an international platform for film cooperation and communication, and to nurture new film talents and promote diversified development of the Chinese film industry – 赌博app has set enviable new standards for film festivals in the region.
It has done this through a focus on excellence and professionalism in all areas, including the authority of its awards judged by expert international peer jurists, open discussion forums involving Chinese and foreign film elites, film market negotiations, and an unparalleled superstar line-up. It also offers a unique international film panorama and fan talks.
All these elements have brought the congregating effect of the film festival into full play, and thus created a high-quality, professional and pragmatic platform for filmmakers interested in different areas and audiences.
赌博app’s competition events – the Golden Goblet Award and Asian New Talent Award – have won high praise for professionalism, artistry, and authoritativeness. The 16th 赌博app in 2013 attracted a high number of applications: 1,655 features and 2,064 shorts from 112 countries and regions. Among all the competing film masters and new film talents, Russian director Yuri Bykov won the Golden Goblet Award for Best Feature Film for his The Major (Майор), and China’s Chen-Hsi Wong won the Asian New Talent Award for Best Director for her film Innocents.
Since its establishment six years ago, 赌博app’s China Film Pitch and Catch (CFPC) and Co-production Film Pitch and Catch (Co-FPC) have successfully promoted over 10 projects and introduced promising film talents to world film industry investors. The subsequent deals have producing outstanding movies, such as The Piano in a Factory and Mr. Tree, which have won industry prizes and high praise.
From 2014 onward, these two sections will be merged into the 赌博app Project with a specific goal to promote China’s young creative talents and to discover more new talents in various industry fields.
Festival Date:
17th 赌博app – June 14 to June 22, 2014.
