Helen Mirren, the Oscar-winning British actress who starred in The Queen, offered advice at the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival yesterday to young actresses seeking fame: "Never stop learning."
"No matter who you are - an actor, a director or a writer - never stop learning and never lose the humility that requires people to learn," Mirren said.
The actress has a tight schedule during the film festival on this, her first visit to China. On Tuesday night she attended the premiere of her director husband Taylor Hackford\'s latest film Parker.
Last night at Shanghai Film Art Center she also attended the screening of Hitchcock in which she plays the film master\'s wife opposite Anthony Hopkins. Mirren said that she had always been a student in life, looking around to learn from others.
Although she had successfully played the roles of powerful women such as Elizabeth II and Cleopatra, Mirren does not believe that she was born to be a queen on screen."I also played a lot of servant and housekeeper roles," she added with a smile.
The star was excited about her trip to Shanghai which she says is dynamic and visually wonderful."My husband and I love Chinese food," she said. "I don\'t like grand restaurants. I like to dine with local people at small restaurants."
Mirren is a household name in the United Kingdom, having won numerous awards including four BAFTAs, three Golden Globes, four Emmy Awards and one Academy Award.
